Question: Hello :) is anyone close to you suffering from any of the diseases you are trying to cure? if not, what is your motivation for working so hard?

Hi Skatie, that’s a really good question. It was not my motivation when I started out in research but as the years have gone on, it has pushed me to do well in the field as 3 of my four grandparents have sadly died from different cancers and my dad also had cancer 10 years ago, luckily he made a complete recovery 🙂 Also, my 4 year old cousin has a disease called cystic fibrosis, at the moment he is healthy and well but there is no cure for this disease.
Although I do not work directly on these diseases, I can see the great work that other scientists like me and the others on here are doing towards finding cures for people and yes, that does make me want to do more!
