I guess I always wanted to be a scientist of some sort from quiet a young age but it was not until I got my first real science job which was when I was 21 years old that I had realised my dream. This was after getting my university degree. It was really exciting working in a lab for the first time as a proper scientist!

I’ve always known I wanted to be a scientist – I started reading books about evolution and genetics when I was about 13 – I thought they were great. I got addicated to David Attenborough programs adn Robert Winston and never looked back….

I’ve been interested in nature since I was a kid, and always enjoyed it at school. But I knew I wanted to be a scientist when I was about 15. Then while I was at university I decided I wanted to do a PhD and start a career in science.

I guess I was always interested in how the world works, even when I was very young. In secondary school I liked maths and science better than most other subjects so it was then that I decided to do maths at A level and try and get a job in science.
