That’s a great question…. There’s three main aspects to a conference. Firstly, I go to lectures and talks (just like being at school!). In those talks, scientists present new exciting data about new drugs they’ve discovered. That allows me to find out about new drugs I didn’t know existed before. Secondly… I try and talk to as many doctors and scientists as possible. It’s important to know what drugs doctors are currently using and how the patients currently feel about a drug – It doesn’t matter how good a drug is if it makes a patients feel so sick that they stop using it! And thirdly, there’s a big hall called an exhibit hall where pharmaceutical companies tell you about all their drugs – I go around all of those and ask companies about their most recent clinical trial data.

Conferences are a lot of work! Lectures start at 7am (ahhhh!) and go on until 6pm. Then in the evening you go to educational dinners where they tell you about even more drugs (but at least then you get fed at the same time!).

It’s very useful and very rewarding but very tiring….

      Hope that helps!
