My most interesting experiment has to be when we created Manchester’s first human embryonic stem cell, I had to “rescue” an oocyte (or egg cell) which had not developed properly. By treating it with 2 chemicals, I was able to trick it into thinking it was developing properly and it went on to divide for 6 days. At this time, we extracted the stem cells from it and luckily they went on to grow and divide. It was really exciting as this was the first time I had done this experiment!
