• Question: What sorts of drugs help to stop effects of cancer?

      ok so there’s lots of different types of drugs but the major classes are ones that are cytotoxic (they kill the cells) – these are chemotherapies and are the ones that make your hair fall out (they’re very toxic). Then there are hormonal agents which stop them growing (you might have heard of tamoxifen for breast cancer). Then are are the new emerging treatments which are called targeted agents. These are more selective and have less side-effects as they target specific molecules which are only found on cancer cells. I personally think that these will be the future of cancer therapy!
